Pink Poodle

Over the course of more than 300 Chicago Cubs home games between 1996-99, Andie Giafaglione (American, b. 1973) photographed the highs and lows of the Cubs at Wrigley Field, new Comiskey Park and the now-defunct Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia. The arctic ‘96 home opener saw a game time temperature of 34-degrees and the ‘97 season began with a historically low 0-14 start. While the ’98 season saw such highlights as Kerry Wood’s 20 strikeouts and NL Rookie of the Year title, the home run race between Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire and the late-season push to win the Wild-Card tiebreaker, baseball also mourned the loss of legendary broadcaster Harry Caray. In 1999, Tommy John surgery kept Kerry Wood out for the entire season and the team finished the month of August with a franchise-low 6-24 record. The Cubs’ rollercoaster was quite a ride.

Searching For The Pink Poodle: Life With The Cubs ‘96-99 was photographed entirely on 35 mm transparency film and is presented unedited and full-frame.
